Bangkok Airways launched scheduled passenger services in 1986 and expanded by establishing airports in Samui, Sukhothai, and Trat. By 2002, it achieved full IATA membership, adhering to international aviation standards.

Bangkok Airways has earned prestigious awards, including Skytrax’s “World’s Best Regional Airline” from 2021 to 2024 and the Thailand Best Employer Brand Award in 2020. Its fleet comprises Airbus 320s, Airbus 319s, and ATR72-600s, each featuring modern technology and distinctive liveries that highlight various exotic destinations.

Baggage Allowance

Bangkok Airways allows one cabin baggage item for adults, children, and infants with a seat.

For ATR72 aircraft, the size limit is 50×36×23 cm with a maximum weight of 7 kg, reducing to 5 kg for routes to and from Luang Prabang.

Airbus 319 and 320 aircraft permit cabin baggage sized 56×36×23 cm, maintaining the same weight restrictions.

Checked baggage allowances depend on the class of service:
Economy Class permits up to 20 kg for adults and children, and 10 kg for infants.

Premium Economy offers 30 kg for adults and young passengers, and 10 kg for infants.

Blue Ribbon Class or Business Class allows 40 kg for adults and children, with infants limited to 10 kg.

Each checked bag must not exceed 32 kg per Thailand airport regulations. Sports equipment is accepted within standard allowances, with excess weight subject to additional charges.

Passengers on codeshare or interline flights should contact the operating airline for specific baggage details.

Check-in

Web and Mobile Check-in allow seat selection and boarding pass issuance online from 24 hours up to 2 hours before departure.

Automated Check-in is available for Bangkok Airways domestic flights, sending boarding passes via email 12 hours prior.

Kiosk Check-in is accessible from 24 hours to 1 hour before departure at selected airports.</br<
Passengers with checked baggage should arrive 60 minutes early. Passengers without checked baggage can head straight to the boarding gate with the boarding pass sent to their registered email through Automated Check-in.

International flight passengers must visit check-in counters at least 2 hours before departure.

Onboard Support

Bangkok Airways provides comprehensive onboard support, including free wheelchair services for passengers who request them at least 24 hours before departure. Assistance is available from check-in to the aircraft, and passengers with personal wheelchairs must notify the airline 48 hours in advance, adhering to size and weight restrictions. Additional wheelchairs may incur excess charges.

The airline also offers an Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service for children aged 5 to under 12, requiring prior reservation and detailed passenger information. Young Passengers aged 12 to under 16 can receive assistance upon request. All UMNR procedures ensure safe escorting and handover, with strict guidelines to guarantee the children’s security throughout their journey.

Refund & Cancellation

Bangkok Airways refunds tickets or unused portions according to fare rules.

Refunds are issued to the ticket holder or the payer with proof of payment.

Lost tickets require evidence of the unused ticket and payment.

Non-refundable tickets allow refunds for unused airport taxes and government taxes only.

In cases of flight cancellations or disruptions, full refunds are provided for unused tickets.

Voluntary refunds deduct reasonable service fees and are based on the unused fare portion.


Refunds are processed in the original payment currency. Additionally, refunds may be refused if requested after 1 year or if tickets are used as departure evidence without proper authorization.
